This is Accounting Specialist as Admin Office in the University of North Dakota is a Great place to work. The degree program was so new that most of UND Aerospace didn’t understand what we were doing. Spent a lot of time early educating the faculty and staff. After we got rolling, the University was squarely behind us. Great experience getting to start a program. Had the contract with UND not ended, I’d still be there.

Accounting Specialist  Position Details:

  • Classify, record and report financial transactions applying theories and principles of accounting
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of transactions and maintain accurate records
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, inventory transactions, declining balance accounts
  • Audit vouchers, charges/credits and journal entries for accuracy within scheduled deadlines
  • Use of proprietary software to maintain accounting records, reports, and statements
  • Identify, research and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and vouchers within scheduled deadlines
  • Recommend and assist in the preparation and monitoring of policy and procedures
  • Train and monitor staff in applicable policies, procedures and practices
  • Serve as the backup for HR/Payroll Specialist
  • Special projects as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a two-year degree in Accounting or a business-related field
  • Ability to independently perform work requiring complex technical and analytical skills without supervision
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Must be able to communicate with a diverse group of people effectively and possess excellent written and oral skills
  • Advanced levels of proficiency with Excel, Access, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to learn other software quickly
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy within scheduled deadlines
  • Requires successful completion of Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PeopleSoft
  • Experience with ImageNow
  • Familiarity with UND policies and procedures
