The Carle Foundation: Nursing Education Specialist II – Urbana, IL

This Nursing Education role will be responsible for Carle’s HCT Training program. This nurse will assist with interviewing candidates, communicating with prospective hires, finalizing curriculum, and teaching all class sessions. They will oversee oriented progress and placement with preceptors, and provide support with rounding and follow-up. This position will also have responsibility for some outreach for the program, including high school and career fair visits, and working with HR to communicate about this program and the possibilities offered to candidates interested in a career in healthcare.

The Nursing Education Specialist II – Nursing develops, designs, delivers and evaluates clinical education programs that are learner-focused, accessible and linked to the organization’s strategic goals. Responsibilities include conducting training needs analysis, working with subject matter experts to design content in a variety of modalities, and facilitating training in the Patient Care Division. Operates as an educator, facilitator, and change agent. Coordinates and delivers education programs of various size and complexity which require the development of project plans including timelines, resource requirements, and budgetary compliance. Recommends appropriate instructional design based on specific training and learner needs. Develops and implements methods to evaluate programs and courses. Designs and reviews methods to measure quality and effectiveness of programs and instructional techniques. Analyzes data from evaluations and identifies methods to improve programs which result in improved learner satisfaction and program outcomes. Collaborates with department leadership and staff in a variety of areas to facilitate the development of education solutions that help the organization achieve its strategic priorities. Assist with a variety of clinical education programs including Nursing Orientation, Preceptor classes, Healthcare orientation, unit assistant training, unit educator mentorships, Residency classes, and other programs developed by this department.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Must obtain MSN within three (3) years of hire date. Complete Carle Leadership Academy within one (1) year of hire. Achieve ANCC certification in Nursing Professional Development within three (3) years.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Registered Nurse (RN) in the start of Illinois required.

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of Clinical experience required. Has demonstrated skill in patient/staff education. Demonstrated leadership abilities in past roles (preceptor, charge RN, clinical ladder involvement, council member, etc.)

OTHER KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required.
