In this role, you will process and reconcile insurance and annuity commission transactions, prepare journal entries, communicate with insurance carriers to resolve payment issues, and monitor outstanding items through aging reports. You will also support monthly financial close activities, prepare expense schedules and variance analyses, and assist with internal, external, and regulatory audits. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree, at least one year of related work experience, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) will be well positioned to contribute to the team’s success. The position follows a regular Monday-through-Friday schedule, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Accountant Job Responsibilities

• The individual would be responsible for the processing, cashiering, reconciliation, and preparation of journal entries for Insurance and Annuity commissions on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• The individual would also have the responsibility to contact carriers with any issues regarding payment of fees and work to resolve them.
• The tracking of insurance was an aging report. Daily reconciliation of annuity processing cash accounts.
• Assisting in the monthly close, including the preparation of direct expenses schedules with variance analysis and assisting in audits with external, internal, and regulatory agencies and any ad hoc reporting as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus one year of related work experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word
• Excellent communication
• Strong analytical skills
• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
• Willingness to work as a team member
