The Village School is seeking a Physical Education Teacher with strong coaching abilities and a genuine commitment to student development. This opportunity combines classroom instruction with hands-on sports coaching, allowing you to create engaging physical education experiences while encouraging teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition. Working in an individualized Montessori learning environment, you will help students develop not only their physical abilities but also their social, emotional, and interpersonal skills.
As a Physical Education Teacher, you will prepare and deliver age-appropriate lessons that strengthen students’ language, motor, and cognitive development through interactive teaching methods and structured activities. You will follow the school’s curriculum, promote cross-cultural understanding, and demonstrate a gentle, respectful, nurturing, and consistent approach to teaching. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in physical education or a related field and have relevant teaching experience at the primary, middle, or high school level. Previous coaching experience, particularly with middle or high school students, is required, and the successful candidate must be prepared to coach at least two sports. Proficiency in volleyball, basketball, soccer, or lacrosse is especially valuable, while experience in international or independent schools is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Possess excellent teaching skills appropriate for elementary-age children;
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of interactive methodologies
- Prepare and implement appropriate classwork for the development of language, motor, and cognitive skills;
- Follow the School’s guidelines and curriculum; and
- Include activities to develop cross-cultural understanding;
- Professional strengths of gentleness, nurturing, respectfulness, consistency
- Understanding of and commitment to early childhood social, emotional, and intellectual development within an international school
- Required to coach a minimum of two sports
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in P.E. or related field
- Relevant teaching experience in a primary/elementary, middle or high school
- Coaching Experience (Middle or High School level experience)
- Ability to work collaboratively within the School
- International and independent school experience preferred
Proficient in Coaching multiple sports:
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Lacrosse
