Job Description: Leidos is seeking a highly qualified Software Engineer (SWE-3) to support a complex and impactful program. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced Agile team environment, focusing on new design and prototyping efforts.

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing sophisticated software systems, including those involving processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, large-scale data manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems. Responsibilities will include working independently and collaboratively as part of a team, reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements, documenting test results, resolving software issues, and applying appropriate software development and design methodologies. Additionally, the role requires providing input into system design considerations, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, the utilization of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions, and requirements analysis from system-level down to individual software components.

Security Clearance Requirement: Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze user requirements to determine software design and performance specifications.
  • Debug and resolve defects in existing software.
  • Design, develop, and modify software solutions to introduce new features.
  • Integrate existing software components into new or modified systems and operating environments.
  • Develop and execute queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.
  • Author and review technical documentation related to software and system design.
  • Develop and implement algorithms that meet or exceed system performance and functionality requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Proven experience in debugging software and resolving defects.
  • Expertise in software design and performance analysis.
  • Strong ability to develop data queries.
  • Experience integrating existing software into evolving systems.
  • Proficiency in authoring and reviewing technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Git, Linux, Jira, Confluence, and Eclipse.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with front-end libraries such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing complex database interactions and query optimizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure quality control in software development and modification efforts.
