The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the educational activities for hospital staff. Nurse education consists in the theorical and practical training provided by nurses with the purpose to prepare them for their duties as nursing care professionals. This education is provided to nursing students by experienced nurses and other medical professionals who have qualified or experienced for educational tasks. Most countries offer nurse education courses that can be relevant to general nursing or to specialized areas including mental health nursing, pediatric nursing and post-operatory nursing. Courses leading to autonomous registration as a nurse typically last four years. Nurse education also provides post-qualification courses in specialist subjects within nursing. (wikipedia.org)
Qualifications
- Current licensure as an RN.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Previous instruction experience preferred.
- Previous experience in clinical practice &/or instruction of Cardiac/Cardiovascular, Med/Surg,
- PCU/Tele, Critical Care nursing preferred.
- Competency in utilizing computer programs for developing instructional materials, tracking related data and communicating information.
- BLS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association.
- Able to speak, read and understand English fluently.
- Excellent communicator with engaging and effective presentation abilities.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of standards and regulations related to staff development and patient education.
- Researches and recommends the purchase of educational materials and equipment.
- Coordinates and/or collaborates with external learning institutions as they utilize the hospital as a clinical teaching site
The tasks and responsibilities of this position include:
- Collaborates with hospital managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competency gaps.
- Develops, implements and evaluates educational plans/programs.
- Facilitates a variety of learning experiences using a range of instructional methods.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of healthcare standards and regulations in order to meet related training needs.
- Participates in the organization’s compliance with mandatory training requirements.
- Utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
- Serves as a consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice and professional development.
- Participates in the coordination and continuity of orientation programs.
- Serves as an active member of committees focused on such areas as safety, infection control, and staff competency.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of standards and regulations related to staff development and patient education.
- Researches and recommends the purchase of educational materials and equipment.
- Coordinates and/or collaborates with external learning institutions as they utilize the hospital as a clinical teaching site.
