Tax Accountant Job Description:
The Accountant assists the timely filing of returns and payments for property, excise and miscellaneous tax returns for federal, state and local jurisdictions. The Accountant also performs research and analysis to optimize tax results and ensure proper controls are in effect.
Tax Accountant Responsibilities:
- Find data for and assist in the preparation of property, fuel, excise, ticket, and similar tax returns
- Assist in the creation and analysis of budgeted tax amounts, including the maintenance of general ledger and financial statement balances and related controls
- Perform tax research to ensure compliance and minimization of tax liabilities
- Respond to inquiries from within the organization and its Consultants and from outside government agencies
- Support Tax Managers in the conduct of tax audits
- Receives clear, detailed, and accurate instructions and consults with Crew leader on all matters outside the scope of daily responsibilities/activities
Tax Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or relevant work experience
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Taxation or similar field
- 2 – 4 years of Tax experience
- Certified Public Accountant preferred but not required
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Organizational fit for the Company’s culture, that is, exhibit the same values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun, and Passion
- Completely groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
- Pass a ten (10) year background check (may include credit check) and pre-employment drug test
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to perform tax/accounting research and communicate results
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Present for core business hours with the capacity to work overtime, including occasional weekend days, as the need arises, especially after the end of calendar quarters
