Accounting Assistant job Description
General Summary
Candidate will perform a variety of general accounting and administrative functions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports accounts receivable billing process using computer software programs
  • Matches invoices to purchase orders and receiving reports, researching inconsistencies
  • Assists with month-end closing process reconciling accounts and periodic inventory counts
  • Maintains the Master Card account with monthly and quarterly reconciliations
  • Compiles, sorts and files documents (e.g., invoices and checks) to substantiate transactions
  • Assists office personnel with clerical tasks as requested (e.g., answering phones, copying, filing, etc.)

Job Requirements
Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: 2nd or 3rd-year college student working towards an Accounting Degree

Experience

  • Required: Three years experience in accounting department or 2nd or 3rd-year college student working towards an Accounting Degree

Knowledge/Abilities

  • Required: Financial Software Package, Microsoft Applications; Specifically Excel
    Preferred:  MAS-90
  • Other
  • Strong organizational and follow-up abilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, accurate
