Senior Tax Accountant Job at Food Management Search – Syosset, NY

Our client, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) firm, was established nearly 25 years ago, with origins tracing back over 80 years. Since its foundation, the firm has grown significantly through mergers and internal expansion. Their expertise encompasses a broad spectrum, including accounting, auditing, tax planning, estate planning, and more.

As a result of this growth, the firm is currently seeking a full-time Senior Tax Accountant to manage assigned tax and accounting responsibilities.

Position Requirements: This role is based on-site, requiring attendance five days a week at the firm’s office, located on the Nassau/Suffolk border in Long Island. Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, with an expectation of extended hours, including Saturdays, during tax season and statutory deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multiple engagements, ensuring timely delivery of client services.
  • Collaborate effectively with all levels of staff on client projects.
  • Review complex multi-state corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and individual income tax returns.
  • Prepare advanced tax returns, including forms 1040, 1041, 1120, and 1065, as necessary.
  • Demonstrate expertise in estate and trust tax matters.
  • Provide financial planning services for high-net-worth individuals, including estate planning, gifting, and IRA management.
  • Handle tax notices and audits in coordination with government agencies.
  • Conduct tax research and deliver training on various taxation topics.
  • Prepare year-end tax projections and develop strategies for quarterly estimates and tax planning.
  • Manage workflow and client relationships effectively.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff accountants on multiple engagements.
  • Mentor and train staff accountants, fostering professional development.
  • Deliver educational content to clients, including webinars, when necessary.
  • Exhibit strong technical tax expertise and the ability to build robust client relationships.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5+ years of public accounting experience, with a history of managing multiple engagements.
  • CPA designation is preferred or required, with a well-rounded tax background.
  • Experience in financial assurance or audit work is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with CCH Axcess Tax, Engagement, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong leadership and staff development skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
