As part of Veeco’s growing Software Development team, you’ll work alongside experienced software engineers to design, develop, test, and support advanced PC-based applications used in sophisticated manufacturing systems. This is a Software Engineer I position and will be working closely with a development team that is made up of software experts in our industry. We have multiple openings, and the desired experience for this position is with C# and/or VB.NET.

Software Engineer Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related degree
• Experience with WIN 7
• Experience with developing in C# and VB.Net
• Understanding of software design and network architectures
• Experience with building and/or testing software desired
• Basic SQL query skills and understanding of database schemas desired

Responsibilities of Software Engineer Jobs

• Development using C# and VB.NET
• Design and support complex PC-based software systems
• Design intuitive user interfaces based on user feedback
• Identify and use other 3rd party software components as appropriate
• Trace and modify existing code
• Understand and troubleshoot large electromechanical systems
• Creation of test cases that address software scenarios, system testing, regression testing, negative testing, error or defect retest, performance monitoring, and usability
• Working with testers, developers, and operations to help reproduce and solve field and internal issues in the application, network, and environment
• Conducting test cases on: large hardware tools and simulation of hardware tools
• Assist in automatic installers to release the software
• Scripting and executing load tests and analyzing results
• Verify release notes with applicable test cases
• Install and configure re-creations of the software production environments
• Review software documentation to ensure accuracy
• Work in an Agile/SCRUM environment using supporting tools
• Attend software status and release readiness meetings

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have a good understanding of C# and VB.NET or newer
• Familiarity with modern software development practices (e.g., version control, issue tracking, automated testing, code review, agile practices)
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Detail oriented
