Position Overview
As part of a small team, the Accountant will be responsible for supporting an overseas program while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. Key Responsibilities
- Generate wire transfer documents with complete supporting documentation for accounts payable and payroll transactions. Obtain required approvals and enter transactions into the Citibank wire transfer system for final authorization in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
- Prepare and record journal vouchers for payroll expenses, monthly accruals, and financial adjustments within the Solomon General Ledger system.
- Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations as part of internal control procedures before the accounting cycle is finalized.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the U.S. State Department regarding invoice submissions, billing inquiries, and payment activities.
- Maintain regular communication with field offices to monitor financial activities and ensure the fiscal integrity of contract operations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and government contracting requirements.
- Review and finalize monthly financial results, including the preparation of variance analyses, financial charts, and supporting explanations for presentation to the Project Manager.
- Respond to financial inquiries by explaining budget variances, identifying significant trends, and highlighting contractual financial issues that may require management attention.
- Develop, maintain, and improve accurate ETC (Estimate to Complete) and EAC (Estimate at Completion) models and reporting processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon) Accounting Software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends when operational requirements demand additional support.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
