Nurse Practitioner Job Description
Works independently collaborating with affiliated health system physicians. Diagnoses and treats common family illnesses for patients two (2) years and older and prescribes medications when clinically appropriate. Provides patients with vaccinations, health education, and utilizes expertise to determine the most suitable treatment options. Completes patient encounters via an Electronic Health Records system.
Participate in peer-to-peer reviews and continuing education activities with medical directors and administration. Functions as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate efforts across the health system that maximizes clinical and financial outcomes. It is preferred that the ideal candidate maintains an active membership with at least one professional clinical organization to remain current with new standards of care and best practices that will enable PPH to deliver high-quality clinical care. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows PPH rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, values, and quality commitment of PPH
Job Requirements of Nurse Practitioner
Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure
Preferred Education: Not Applicable
Minimum Experience: 1 – 3 years minimum clinical nursing experience – Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs)
Preferred Experience: 3+ years of clinical nursing experience – Family Nurse Practitioner certification
Required Certification: American Heart Association Recognized BLS – Healthcare Provider
CA State Certification or National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) with National Certification obtained within six (6) months of hire
Preferred Certification: Not Applicable
Required License: Current CA RN License, Current CA Nurse Practitioner License, Current CA Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Certificate, DEA number
