Description of Staff Accountant Job

Berkshire is searching for an Acquisition Associate who is a enthusiastic, assertive, and confident for our New York Acquisitions office.  Under the general direction of the Acquisitions VP, the Acquisitions Associate will be responsible for supporting the Acquisitions VP in the sourcing, coordinating due diligence, and closing of both debt and equity deals for Berkshire Property Advisors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of Staff Accountant Job:

  • Full General Ledger maintenance.
  • Financial statement preparation.
  • Variance analysis.
  • Bank and other general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Acquisition and disposition closing statements.
  • Forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assist in supporting the external audit process.
  • Assist in preparation for monthly, quarterly, and annual report needs of various reporting entities.
  • Reconciles account differences.
  • Reconciles intra and inter-company balances.
  • Prepares for property field audits.
  • Other Special Projects as assigned.

BASIC PURPOSE: Under the general direction of the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant will provide accounting support for Berkshire Property Advisors.

Staff Accountant Job QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree with concentration in Accounting.
  • Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including, Word, Excel, and Outlook (including the calendaring function).
  • Detail oriented with great communication and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor degree with an accounting concentration.
  • Has understanding of accounting cycles, account classifications, debts, and credits.
  • Understands account reconciliation differences and how to go about resolving them.

Technical/ Educational Requirements:

  • Prior experience with Peoplesoft & SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (Outlooksoft) is a plus.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is critical, as is the ability to manage interactions among a variety of personalities.
