Description of Senior Embedded Software Engineer Job
This position will be responsible for working on a cross-functional team to design, develop, maintain, and verify software on next generation and existing platforms of a physiologic monitoring device. Proteus Biomedical, Inc. is seeking a senior embedded software engineer for our Redwood City, CA facility.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead firmware projects with multiple software contractors to meet project constraints which typically include power (low to very low), code size, and schedule
- Participate in system software architecture, design and implementation.
- Execute all development projects in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines
- Support and maintenance of existing products including trouble shooting at the system-level
Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing or verbal, with various stakeholders including hardware engineers, software engineers, scientists, technicians, clinical, regulatory, and marketing
- Bachelor’s degree in Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering and 5-7 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 3-5 years of related experience
- Demonstrated ability to understand projects at the system-level
- Strong ability to isolate and debug embedded hardware and software problems
- Expertise in embedded firmware design and development using C/C++/Assembly
Desirable Qualifications
- Medical device development experience; familiarity with FDA guidelines for medical device development
- Expertise in embedded DSP firmware design and development using C/C++/Assembly
- Experience with VLIW digital signal processors, such as the BelaSigna 300
- Expertise using Matlab or comparable tool for simulation of digital communications systems and data analysis
- Experience in ARM Cortex development
- Development experience with wireless technology
- Experience in the start-up environment
- Experience designing, verifying, or tuning custom receiver ASICs
