Accounting Associate Job Description:

The Accounting Associate will support finance operations and general accounting needs in support of seven health centers throughout Massachusetts. Will manage revenue recognition, accounts payable and maintain general ledgers for two financial subsidiaries including PPLM’s advocacy affiliate.  Also, support the Accounting Manager in the maintenance of the monthly cash/bank reconciliation and preparation of tax returns, audit materials.  Work with the Accounting Manager and CFO to develop and improve internal processes and controls and to manage and monitor internal audit efforts.  Will support annual audit preparation (general review including A-133 federal requirements and 403B plan), development and presentation of financial statements and other management reports.  Prepare spreadsheets as needed for financial and/or operational analysis and will support PPLM’s operating managers in their analysis of PPLM’s financial statements.

Work will include a mix of regular responsibilities and special projects, such as performing a financial analysis on a business segment.  The Accounting Associate will be required to support other Finance functions. Needs to have the ability to prioritize competing tasks, manage and communicate time availability and a strong sense of teamwork, as well as problem-solving skills and attention to detail.  The ideal candidate will show a demonstrated ability to design and implement new solutions and systems both to solve existing problems and to reduce and to monitor risk.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge & experience in General Ledger transaction posting.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL or similar software.
  • Proficiency with revenue and cash reconciliation, audit preparation and financial/variance analysis.
  • Experience with internal controls and process improvement.
