Nurse Practitioners must have must have an RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence) and a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a “Prescriptive Authority for Licensed Nurse Practitioners Practice Agreement” signed by sponsoring/supervising physician(s), AND a written “Scope of Practice/Protocol” signed by the supervising physician, AND “Prescriptive Authority License” AND “Drug Enforcement Administration License” (if prescribing controlled substances).
Job & Education Requirements of Nurse Practioner:
- 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience as an RN. Acute Care NP experience preferred.
- BSN and Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners or a certificate from and education program that is accredited by the Counsel of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse-Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing or the National League for Nursing.
