The Software Application Engineer Position (AE-Software) is responsible for providing pre-sales support at OEM, End-User, & System Integrator customers with Software Account Managers, Channel Partners, and Solution Providers to meet or exceed Software sales revenue goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support Sales Growth – Perform technical solution pre-sales activities while supporting the internal and external customers
  • These activities ultimately lead to “filling the pipeline” and overall sales growth
  • Activities should focus on opportunities that accelerate new customer acquisition and conversions at existing customers
  • Participate with the internal and external customers during the discovery and solution generation stage of the sales process. Submit monthly Items of Interest (IOI’s) to Software Application Engineer Leader
  • Customer Type, Vertical Domain, and Product Experience – Obtain technical and application value-add solution experience (or enhance existing experience) with respect to End-User, OEM, & Systems Integrator customer types as well as for Vertical Markets such as Energy or Water
  • Join an Application Community, which will involve Pre-Sales AEs, Professional Services, Global Support, and Product Development personnel (e.g., Automation Software community, Operations Management Software community, Redundancy Community, Motion Community, Process Systems Community, etc.) In addition, increase specific product knowledge expertise in order to support conversion projects in Opportunities
  • Proactively pursue cross training between software and hardware products – including opportunities for training between vertical segments
  • Conversions – Support the identification, qualification, and completion of conversion projects for Software product applications
  • This effort may at times include the actual conversion of software and hardware logic
  • Solution Validation Services (SVS) and On-site Operation Discovery Assessments (OOD) – Support the identification, qualification, and completion of SVS and OOD
  • Development of Technical Support Collateral – Develop Application Notes, Vertical Demos, Success Stories, Application Briefs as well as provide development support in the creation of technical marketing collateral
  • Follow procedures for sharing software & hardware application work globally as well as storage in a common repository
  • In addition, participate in GE Fanuc sponsored and channel initiated customer seminars
  • Support Representatives and Solution Providers – by conducting quarterly (1-day) technical updates for technical resources at channel partners
  • Increase Commercial Skills – Attend sales and financial training sessions when offered as well as the completion of Webinars where applicable

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in technical field is required plus a minimum 7 years Application Engineering Technical Sales Support experience in the industrial automation market
  • Minimum 7 years experience in Application or Consultant Engineering in either Industrial Automation and/or Automation & Operations Management Software solutions

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and availability to travel up to 50%

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Desired Characteristics    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline or Computer Science
  • Strong technical industry / vertical domain experience from work at an Industrial
  • Automation Supplier, End-User, OEM, or Systems Integrator
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office based products
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems for pipeline and opportunity management
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Note: Position will be home office based with preferred locations Houston or Dallas, Texas
