Job Functions

  • Coordinates with client management to formulate complex technical solutions. Informs client management of appropriate developments in technical support products.
  • Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness. Oversees and implements system upgrade strategies.
  • Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex solutions. Coordinates activities with other technical personnel as appropriate.
  • Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance.
  • Conducts capacity planning reviews with management and approves capacity plans formulated by less experienced personnel.
  • Develops strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application. Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required.
  • Coordinates with business development personnel on proposals and work estimates involving highly complex system administration projects and solutions.
  • Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures.
  • Provides technical leadership to internal and external personnel on highly complex system installation processes. Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Provides technical leadership to appropriate personnel on highly complex system administration activities. Provides technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, highly complex technical issues.

CSC is looking for Middleware Engineers in several locations (Foster City, CA, Ashburn, VA) and some of the positions may be performed remotely at other locations with certain restrictions.

Client is undergoing a migration of existing systems between data centers. These roles specifically address the software infrastructure needs of these applications, and will be responsible for the design and build-out of new systems, followed by the migration of applications into these new systems.

Specifically this role is expected to provide engineering assistance and configuration administration for MQ Server, IBM Datapower, IBM Websphere, MQ broker, Apache and related technologies. The role requires deep experience with Websphere, MQ messaging, and web services – especially with both engineering and troubleshooting. An emphasis on re-use of established infrastructure patterns and consolidation of like technologies is to be expected.

  • Experience in a Linux / distributed enterprise environment.
  • Experience managing upgrading and patching Middleware deployments is required.
  • Experience managing Middleware security on environments with Siteminder and Ldap, including participation in security based audits for environments.
  • Experience installing, configuring, performance tuning and troubleshooting Middleware software

Other Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IT Enterprise architecture.
  • Able to read and work from technical manuals and other documentation.
  • Knowledge of Weblogic 8.1/10.3
